A few weeks ago Jesse and I took a road trip down to New Mexico. Jesse served the majority of his mission there. I was worried that I would feel out of place, but I ended up feeling right at home! We visited several of the families that Jesse taught. Everyone was so happy to see him.
It was pretty surreal to drive around the areas Jesse spent so much time in. The first city we visited was Ruidoso. Ruidoso is pretty similar to Park City in a lot of ways. They have these wooden bears everywhere. Jesse really wanted to get one when he was on his mission, but he never did. Naturally, we had to get one while we were there! We ate at this burger place called Hall of Flame. It was so good! Jesse ate there a lot on his mission.
We walked the shops and saw more wooden bears.
On our last day there we met one of Jesse’s favorite families for breakfast at a place called the Log Cabin. I got a bacon infused waffle. It was oh so delicious. They had a large bear that I loved. It reminded me of Winnie the Pooh.
That day we made our way over to Roswell. We started at the main museum in town. It mostly had newspaper articles that talked about the events that happened there. After the museum we made our way through all the shops on the street. Some of the stores really gave me the creeps. They have weird alien stuff everywhere.
One of the coolest things in Roswell is the McDonald’s. It is shaped like a UFO. I didn’t get a great picture of it, but I did get a great order of fries there.
All in all we had a fun weekend, and we will definitely be back!
